Life has been (FUN) crazy busy and I've neglected to post anything new on the blog and for that I apologize. So, as I sit her the week after Christmas enjoying some time with my kiddos (and, yes, we're still in our jammies!) while poor Erik is at work, I'm going to play "catch up" with pictures. Pictures of first days at school, Texas Rangers World Series (you heard that right!) and a few cute miscellaneous ones as well.

There's one other thing I need to communicate. This is the first year in MANY that we haven't sent out a family Christmas card. Although it makes me a little crazy to think I wasn't able to check that off my list this year family time took priority. So to all that didn't receive the precious (ha!) E. Berry Christmas card this year, stay tuned as there's a little video treat in this post that will more than make up for the card. And...don't take us off your lists...we enjoy receiving all of your precious cards and will be more "on the ball" next year and back in the card sending business.

Tate's Modeling Debut

A couple of months ago Tate was asked to model for a clothing magazine. The photographer contracted to put together the magazine has taken his picture before and thinks he's extremely photogenic and called him up. So, here's his modeling debut picture. He was instructed to act cool and serious - what a "ham"! The part he was most excited about was the fact he got to keep the shirt.

I wish they would have published the back of his head as well. You would have been able to get a good view of his summer mohawk!

The Summer of 2010

As summer (vacation wise...not heat wise -argh!) is drawing to a close here in Texas I thought I'd post a few pictures from the kids activities.

Tate began the summer by learning that he made the 8U Flower Mound All-star baseball team. He had a great time, the team played exceptionally well and he made some great, new friends. As a family, although it was extremely hot, we had fun spending entire weekends together watching game after game (and, yes, i'm being serious here!). Thank you Nannie, PawPaw, Kiki, and Popi for supporting him through those hot tournament games. And, Peyton, well...she was a trooper too! In fact, when the month of June was over she woke up that first weekend and wanted to go to the the ballpark. What a great little sister!

Congratulations Flower Mound 8U All-stars!

Peyton continues to entertain us all. She spent time with both of her grandparents and enjoyed being a part of her school's fourth of July parade. I'm not sure she didn't think the parade was for her! She's doing exceptionally well in her preschool and will be moving on to a new teacher beginning with the school year. Watch out Ms. Jackson - here comes the P.

Tate's Summer Trip to Iowa

Tate took his traditional trip to Iowa this summer with my parents to watch his cousins play baseball. Amazingly, this trip is always a highlight of his summer. Wonder if that says something about any of our other family trips? :>) I think his Nannie and PawPaw start taking a little "calming medicine" weeks prior to loading up. The kid just gets so excited he doesn't sleep for weeks prior and talks all the way from Texas to Iowa and back.

Thank you Nannie and PawPaw for spending this quality time with him. He loves it and I know lifelong memories are developing.

Now, guess who gets to road trip next year? That's right....SISTER'S bags will be packed come June of 2011. Let's start praying for Nannie and PawPaw now.

The Storm - 8U Flower Mound City Champs

What an exciting baseball season this has been for Tate – ok, and his family as well. His team, the Storm, not only finished the regular season undefeated but won the 8U city tournament. They played the #2 team in the division, the Cardinals, in the final game and won 16 - 12. Go Storm!

This has been one of my favorite seasons so far not only due to the wins (yes - I admit it - I'm extremely competitive.) but also because I didn't realize that 8 year olds could play great baseball. Hang on ...I know what you are saying...You are a mom of one of those 8 year olds what else would you say. That is a very true statement, but as our coach indicated at the beginning of this season - 8U baseball is great because the kids have gotten the hang of the rules, understand the game somewhat and have begun to show the skills of real players. (Oh, and did I mention, 8U is still coach pitch which helps.) No more "pickin daisy" moments for these boys! Ok, that was a mom statement because we did have some "blooper" worthy moments where we had to remind ourselves that they are still 8 years old.

It was great though to see the hours the boys and their coaches dedicated to this team pay off. We have a great group of dedicated dads that are awesome (and love to win too!) - thanks Coach Steve and crew! Here's another amazing fact, a lot of these kids have been playing together since they were 4 years old. Nice lesson for the boys to begin learning...hard work and dedication does pay off.

Congrats to the Storm players and parents! Parents...we made it through another successful season. I don't know about you but my blood pressure needs a break and my hair dresser has some work before her to get rid of many, newly acquired gray hairs.

I now understand why my parents always told me it was more nerve racking to watch your kids activities then to actually participate yourself. Mom, I only wish baseball parks had rafter seating. You’d be proud though, I have mastered the skill of pacing. :>)

Keiser Family Vacation

I know...I know... The blog hasn't been updated in a long time! But, who am I kidding - no one but me really cares - right? :>) So here comes the list of my excuses... Nah, I'm not going to bore you with that mess, I'm just going to get straight to the most recent updates.

In March, the Keisers (all of us) decided to take a family vacation. I can laugh now as I imagine what everyone was thinking when I suggested that we really should get the kids together for a vacation and especially now since the boys Spring Breaks aligned this year. Here were my thoughts…. Mom and Dad, although eager at any opportunity for us all to be in one place weren't going to be able to get away from us. Ha! We would be able to hold them hostage and they couldn't return to their (quiet) house after spending just one evening away. And Steve, the one who loves his family but often seeks solace in "needing to get back to work" wasn't going to be able to escape being all together in one condo. And then there was Tammy... well, I think she was praying all during the planning phase that maybe, just maybe, the trip would get diverted to the beach. No such luck! The boys and the "princess" …they were just all excited to be together. So, that left Erik and I who quite frankly (mentally) had our bags packed from the time that the idea hit my head. We love Utah and, of course, spending time with the family!

And, yes, you read that correctly. We ALL stayed in one condo - a three bedroom condo - together in Park Cities, Utah! That's 6 adults and 4 very loud kids. I told you...no escaping for anyone. Let me just say - bless the invention of wine!!!

We (hmmm...wonder if I'm only speaking for myself) had the best time. Tate, Erik, Steve and I were the only ones that had previous ski experience so as you can imagine the Keiser attitudes, frustrations, and "I don't need help from anyone else" personalities were running high. Tammy, although upon arrival was still hoping the plane would land on a tropical island, was a trooper and skiing in no time. We even had the three year old - Princess P - up on skis and heading down the mountain like a champ. Have I told you yet how much fun "we" had?!?! How about the fact that I love skiing in Utah. I now realize it gets even better when you bring your family along.

I'm not going to bore you with any of the stories from the trip but let me just add this one last piece of information. Along with the skiing and snow related activities, we visited the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics - Salt Lake City Olympic Park (pictures in a separate blog post) and shopped a little - ok, Mom, Dad and Tammy. We even had a moose sighting while we were there – a vacation thrill especially for Erik. Have I said this yet? What a beautiful area!

Enjoy the photos … I know they make me smile every time and look forward to the next family trip. Guess we owe Tammy a trip to someplace warm. Maybe we'll board a big ship.....stay tuned!

Daddy Daughter Dance

There are no words to express how these pictures make me feel other than they make my heart happy.

More twirling and practice dancing was going on in our house prior to Peyton and Erik's departure than I have ever seen. Her signature dance moves are the robot and "shake your booty". Don't ask.... just remember that she is all Berry!

This little girl has already stolen many hearts! Watch out boys though...her daddy reports that she was the most high maintenance date he's ever had!

MAJOR Snow Day in Texas

Last week we experienced record breaking (literally!) amounts of snow in one day. It was so beautiful and we all got out and enjoyed the experience. What a nice "test run" for our upcoming trip to Utah with the Keiser family.

Peyton couldn't decide whether she wanted to throw or eat the snowballs she made. Most of the time she opted for eating them. Yummy!

I was amazed.... Although it was very cold and at times their faces were bright red, they never complained or wanted to come inside. And, no, I couldn't get Tate in a heavier coat. He opted for a sweatshirt that just soaked in the water. Argh - boys!

When Erik got home they went back outside and built a snowman and "Texas-size" snowball. Check it out!

Here's a shot of the outside of our house. I am not quite sure when/if we'll ever see snow like this again. I do think it looks beautiful but am glad it melted away as quickly as it came. Yes, I'm a Texas girl who likes the warmer weather although I do have to admit it's nice to see some of the other seasons every now and then.

Second Annual Pig Roast - Berry Style!

Please don't anyone turn us in to our homeowner's association but Erik and Paul have started another annual event. Any excuse for those boys to host a party.... So, Super Bowl Sunday came along AGAIN without the Cowboys participating (we're getting closer!) but don't think that caused any delay in the pig pit making another appearance in our back yard (shhhhh!). And let me tell you the weather wasn't the finest to be hosting this event either. In fact, after the rain stopped we had up to 8 inches of snow dumped into our area (those pictures are to be posted shortly) so let's just say that the pig pit is still in our backyard. Enough about that though.... :>)

This year the guys brought in an expert helper - the cutest little blonde girl all decked out in her pajamas, rain boots and big pink fluffy coat (as she calls it) showed up to partake in the festivities. Yes, the best part for me (other than the pig meat - of course) was watching Peyton attach herself to her daddy and Uncle Paul and assist in the roasting of "her pig". I'm just a little concerned that she's turning into a party lover herself and may be requesting her own annual events in the near future.

The food was fabulous and a great evening was had with old and new friends. I have to say I would personally have liked the Colts to win but the game was good and the Saints played their hearts out. And...another photo for the picture books was born - Drew Brees and his son. Loved that photo on SI and all over the tv!

So, here's to another great Berry Pig Roast. And, come on Cowboys, we need a Pig Roast where we can all root on America's Team!

Ring in the New Year with Swim Lessons

So the time has come to get blondie (a.k.a. - Peyton) swimming... I'm not sure whether she was more excited about getting in the pool and swimming or the new outfit which not only consisted of a bathing suit (with a skirt she could twirl) and cover up but her favorite, the goggles. She's a mess but is "cautiously" working her way through the lessons on a weekly basis.

Hmmm....think we may be wasting our money with the lessons.? How is being carried around and floating on a raft teaching one to swim? Let's all say it together.... PRINCESS!

Trying to Make a Difference

For Christmas this year, our church (FMUMC) headed out to the Rocky Pointe community here in Flower Mound to cook and deliver a fajita dinner. I know...not a traditional Christmas meal but by this time isn't everyone tired of ham, turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, the ole family fruit cake, blah, blah, blah? I'm not a big fan in the first place so a fajita dinner would hit the spot!

We love doing things like this as a family and I hope that our kids understand and never forget how blessed they truly are.

So, here are a few pictures of the kids spreading a little bit of, what we hope is, Christmas joy!

And...I just noticed. I did get a picture of the Texas White Christmas of 2009. Look real close ...it's in background but it's there!

Christmas with the Keiser Cousins

We failed miserably when it came to taking pictures this year and I'm now kicking myself... and Erik and the rest of the Keiser's out there! We had my family in town, mother nature delivered a white Christmas for the first time since 192..something and NOTHING. Not one photo of the snow, of the great presents delivered by Santa, or of the bad hair we were all sporting Christmas morning....grrr.

All I've got is this fabulous picture of the Keiser cousins at church on Christmas Eve. So, for me, this one is PRICELESS!

Tate's first hunting experience....he LOVED it!

Yikes! Not growing up in a hunting family this is all new territory to me and makes me a bit nervous. Ok...it makes me REAL nervous! Guns, open land, early mornings, no sunlight, lots of fog, more guns and a bunch of camo....

I do have to be honest though.... There was one hunting experience that I remember as a kid where my brother headed out (oh he is going to kill me for this one!) to gather the food for the family. Let me remind you, we grew up "in the country" (if any of my current friends are reading - it's true I'm a country girl!) and behind our five acres there was a bird, game preserve (i think that's what it is called). As my brother and his friend headed out in my dad's pickup one day (it took them a while) they loaded up their guns, boom box, cooler full of snacks and lawn chairs. Remember...this is a true story! City slickers headed out on a hunt.... Now, my memory is fading quickly so I'm not sure what they returned with - if anything. Now do you understand my initial fear and concern (as the previous experience was my only point of reference to hunting) when Erik says he is taking my PRECIOUS (almost) 8 year old out to hunt.

Tate was so excited and had been requesting to go with Erik for some time. So, mom HAD to get on board and give the final "ok". This did not come without much prayer! Thank goodness for my husband and his brother and their reassurance that they would be extremely safe, although, as you can tell by one of the pictures, they did "lose" his shoes somewhere along the way. Guess a little frost bite never hurt anyone.....he doesn't need those toes! Oh, and check out my nephew's extremely "manly" (and warm!) Converse hunting shoes. Nice.... I was told that the shoe attire was not what they were actually allowed to hunt in. The bare feet and converse shoes were only in existence for this photo.

I do LOVE all these boys though and am extremely grateful that they have found something that they enjoy doing together. Now, if I could only get that little blonde girl in my house to love hunting too I'd be set for some quiet time! :>)

Note: In picture #1 and #2 below Tate was actually standing on ice. Not sure how that makes me feel but it is what it is. Supposedly, that's a sign of toughness in the world of hunting. Or so that's what they tell me....

Family (Kind of) Divided - Baylor vs. Texas

We have a bit of a conflict in our house when it comes to the Big 12 Conference. Erik and his family are DIE HARD University of Texas fans and I (for reasons other than athletics) chose to go to school at Baylor University. So, when it comes to sports we have a few problems and our kids are now having to choose (ha! "choose" - only in my dreams). Although I'd like to think that it's a decision, my kids at the ripe ages of 7 and 3 have chosen to be Longhorn fans. Poor Mom!

In spite of all of that and the fact that Texas' football team is ranked #3 in the nation this year (for now...it's not January yet!), we packed our bags and headed to Waco for the Baylor vs. Texas game. Tate joined us this year and kept telling everyone that he was going to cheer on both teams. He so loves his Mom because, believe me, this was only out of pure love and not due to his true feelings for the game/teams.

Upon arriving in Waco, we stopped at the Spirit Shop and purchased Tate a Bears jersey so that he could wear it along with his Longhorn eye black and helmet. Confusing, I know.... We headed to the pre-game festivities and he was a trooper still supporting that green and gold but with his blood starting to spill burnt orange. He contained his true feelings UNTIL the opening kickoff at which point both hands went straight up in the air as he proudly became the loudest, most obnoxious Longhorn fan with not only one hand displaying the hook 'em horns sign but TWO. He immediately looked at me and said "Sorry Mom!" How can you blame a kid when the score at half time is 40 to 0 Longhorns all the way. I will say, Baylor won the second half of the game 14 - 7 against the incoming Texas freshman (kidding...but Mack was playing the fourth string).

None of that mattered to me at all because I got to spend the day with my two favorite boys doing one of my favorite things....watching football on a gorgeous Texas day. The only thing that could have made that day any better would have been if Peyton could have been there. She's still a bit too young to make it through an entire game. And..., ok, a Baylor victory would be nice too but (to keep peace in the family) I'll wish for that during a season that doesn't have National Championship implications.

I'm already looking forward to next year's game when the Bears (with a healthy Robert Griffin) head into Austin to take on the Longhorns (and, hopefully, the 2010 National Champions). Good times ahead!

Aikman's End Zone - Love it!

One of Tate's friends landed himself in Children's Hospital after a fall that lacerated his kidney. He ended up being just fine - thank God - but we headed to the hospital for a little visit. The floor he was on is supported by the Troy Aikman Foundation and for any of you who know me at all you know I have a "thing" for Aikman (no offense Erik...i love YOU!). I was in heaven when I stepped off of the elevator and found myself in a sea of Aikman memorabilia. He and his things were everywhere. I used Tate as my excuse to get several pictures as I didn't think we'd get quite as many stares if he was part of the pictures. Tate finally got tired of my... "Hey Tate look at this....Tate did you see this jersey.....Tate just one more picture - please" and said quite sharply "Mom, let's go!" as he was on the elevator pushing the down button leaving with or without me.

So, if there are any other Aikman fans out there enjoy these few photos.

In all seriousness though, it was a pure joy seeing the works of a charitable foundation that obviously cares for people - especially children. I truly applaud their efforts!

Nothing Stands in the Way of a Cowboys Game

Tate and his Dad headed out this Sunday to watch the Cowboys play the Seattle Seahawks in spite of the fact that Tate didn't feel well. Come to find out, he was coming down with strep throat. Ok...before anyone calls CPS on us, you'll need to understand that there was no way that I could have convinced him that he needed to stay home. He's that big of a fan (crazed fanatic!) and with prices the way they are at "Jerry World" probably his only opportunity to go to the stadium this year.

He had a great time and the Cowboys had one of their better games. He did tell me that he couldn't have much to "snack on" at the stadium because it would have cost them thousands of dollars. I know you all think he was exaggerating a bit but let me reassure you he's not far off. Jerry Jones needs to understand his target audience and get prices back in line (oh wow...i just went down a little marketing tangent).

Two "HOT" Chicks

We get this question all of the time.... "Where did Peyton get that porcelain skin color from?" Well, it's really no mystery at all. It's in the Kemp genes!

Here's a picture of her and her Kiki (Erik's mom) so you tell me. Can't we all agree that's a portrait of two "HOT" chicks with beautiful skin?!?! :>)

And yes....one of the chicks could have used a good face cleaning prior to picture time but it's the best we could do. We had to work with what we had available.

Trick or Treat Texas Style

We had a great time trick or treating this year. Or, maybe I should say Erik and the kids did as I stayed behind (with Nannie, PawPaw, Kiki and Popi) to hand out candy and work the fog machine. Yes, I was given strict instructions on when to "push the button" since Erik's goal is to have one of the scariest porches in the neighborhood. Peyton was hilarious as she was in a dead sprint for the first 20 minutes and then "pooped out" prior to making it home. The three trick or treaters came home after about 45 minutes and Peyton was riding on her daddy's shoulders.

Thanks to Aunt Amy and cousin Katy Beth, Peyton was Minnie Mouse. And, I must say Berry girls sure do look cute in their Minnie Mouse attire. Thanks Aunt Amy and Katy Beth for letting us borrow the costume!

Tate was Colt McCoy...eye black and all! He had a great time playing the part and, of course, had to head home quickly to check out the real Colt McCoy as the Longhorns were playing the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Congrats to the Longhorns on their victory and to Tate for portraying such a fine athlete that evening.

Here Comes Halloween...Let's Decorate

Tate and Erik love Halloween and therefore decorating the front porch has been delegated to them. Each year it is so fun for me to get to see what they have come up with. This year, Peyton joined in the festivities and when I got home from a trip she was so excited for me to see their work. She greeted me in the garage before I could get out of the garage with "Surprise Mommy....it's so scary!" I loved it! The three of them make a great team.

What you can't see here is the strobe light and industrial strength fog machine that makes an appearance when all the trick or treaters appear.

FMUMC Campout - Beavers Bend State Park

Flower Mound United Methodist church headed to Beavers Bend State Park in Broken Bow, Oklahoma for its first annual family campout. We loaded up the kids and headed for a weekend of outdoor activities and had an absolute blast. The weather was a bit "damp" but that didn't stop us. We ended up taking some nice hikes, going horseback riding (the first time ever for Tate and Peyton), and hanging out with many of our friends just enjoying each other's company. Each evening was concluded with a campfire and smores! We are all looking forward to heading back to Oklahoma next year over the Columbus Day holiday weekend.

Our Baby Turns THREE!

I can't believe it. Peyton, the baby of the family, turned three. We had a family birthday party with Nannie, PawPaw, Kiki, Popi, Uncle Paul, Aunt Amy, Landon and Katy Beth and she enjoyed every bit of the attention. You gotta love being the baby and the center of the party! Of course, this is nothing new as she's often the center of attention and loving it....

This picture was taken at the end of the evening when she decided to enjoy "some" of her birthday presents - an antique bassinet for her baby dolls, a new book, and pink flip flop slippers. Somehow the new clothes she received got lost!

We're on to Football.....

Tate decided this year (or maybe this was the first time his Mom would agree) he would like to try his "hands and feet" at flag football. I have to admit that I love football (I'm sure everyone that knows me is not shocked by that comment) and have really enjoyed watching these boys learn this new sport. Here are a couple of pictures from the newly formed Longhorn flag football team.

And...by the way...there've been no injuries to date so we've been extremely lucky! Hope I didn't just jinx our luck.

First Day of Second Grade

It's that time of year again... back to school! Tate began second grade today and his teacher's (which is the one he was hoping for) name is Miss Cox. Bless her, bless her, bless her...

He told me this morning that we could all go and drop him off but that I was to take no pictures - until the end of the school year - and couldn't hold his hand or kiss him. So, as any good mother would do I violated all but two of his requests - kind of. I took his picture in the class room but requested that his teacher be a part of it. And, I couldn't stand it and asked if I could get a quick kiss. As any wonderful son would do, he appeased me with the quickest kiss known to mankind. I loved it though!

Mavericks Basketball - YMCA Summer League CHAMPS

Here are a few pics from Tate's summer league championship game. The Maupin Mavericks were fantastic! I'm amazed at the improvement these boys made in just the summer months alone. They are a great bunch of boys led by a superb coach (Thanks Jason...and Angie for putting up with him!). There were a few nail biter games for the parents and grandparents but, again, I can't describe to you how these boys hustled, kept their heads in the game, and continued to play hard even when down by a few baskets heading into a few 4th periods.

Oh...and don't think that Peyton doesn't believe that she is part of the team. After every game she was in the huddle listening to Coach Jason with her hands on the pile awaiting the "go ahead" to yell, "Mavericks!"

One morning I hear Erik go into Peyton's room and shout, "Holy cow, what in the world happened to you?" (BTW - that is the G-rated version) As I lie there in bed, I'm visualizing that she's taken off her diaper and made an artistic impression on the walls of her room utilizing the contents that were once enclosed. Nope, not the case... As they enter the room all I can see is purple scribble all over my beautiful, porcelain skinned daughter. At that point, one can only laugh and ask - where else is it?

Tate has fallen in love with America's Favorite Past Time -Baseball. Ok, maybe he's really just a fanatic about any sporting event. But... this baseball season he's been to several games and, of course, watched all the rest on television. Can I just say I'm not a big fan when they play on the West Coast!

Erik took him to a game against the Detroit Tigers and although a little disappointed that Ian Kinsler didn't make an appearance to sign a baseball, Tate was able to get the autograph of #33 Kevin Millwood.

First Grade "End of the Year" Party

Tate has officially completed first grade and is both excited and a little sad. He's ready to move on to big second grade but will miss his teacher dearly. We all loved Mrs. Anderson...she was awesome! Tate ended the year by making the A honor roll as well as receiving the leadership award. And no, I didn't ask if that really means the "bossy" award! I was fearful of the answer. :>)

So, here's to first grade in the rear view mirror and Summer Break 2009 - Iowa, Rangers baseball games, hangin' poolside, etc. - in the sights...

Final Baseball Weekend

To close out the spring baseball season, the Storm played in a tournament this weekend. Let's just say it was a learning experience and leave it at that. I was very proud of the team and the progress they made this season. Looking forward to the fall season.

As some of you know and many experience frequently, summer in Texas can be a time to stay inside with the air conditioner running full blast. But, Saturday we were granted the gift of a beautiful spring day. Therefore, Erik, Peyton and I headed to feed the ducks and play in the park. She was really only interested in chasing the ducks, eating the bread herself and playing at the park - specifically swinging.

A little note to my Dad: P's going to love to go feed the ducks like I did...does that scare you?!?! :>)

Tate's First Grade Video

I can't believe it but we are drawing upon the last week of school here in Flower Mound. I'm so amazed how quickly time is passing by especially when I think about my kiddos and, specifically, that Tate is heading towards second grade. The video below gives you a glimpse of the work (and sense of humor) he has completed through the school year. We are so proud of him and the strides he has made this year.

We spent Memorial Day in Uncle Paul and Aunt Amy's pool. Ok...so maybe Erik and Peyton did. I'm obviously in the family to be the person in charge of the camera.

Berry Crawfish Boil 2009

So here we are again and it's spring time... just the perfect time for the annual Berry Crawfish Boil. Well believe it or not we had to do the "non-rain dance" and actually ward of some rather chilly weather. And, yes, it was May in Texas! But, none the less, another successful evening with LOTS of food, fun and fellowship with our family and friends. If you weren't there know that you were missed and we hope to see you next year.

Needless to say, Peyton was exhausted and a little unruly to get to bed with all the festivities going on. She's like her daddy...never wants to miss a minute of the party.

Breaking News: Storm defeats Rangers

Tate's team, the Storm, won a big game Monday night. The Storm defeated the Texas Rangers - a team they have played many times over the course of the last few seasons but have never beaten. Tate has played very well all season, but for the first time this season he was named Player of the Game and Big League Hitter by his coach. Tate's batting average has improved tremendously this season and we are so proud because his improvement is a direct result of a lot of hard work and practice. Way to go Storm...let's finish the season strong!

The great hunter is at it again.... This time he's bringing home a turkey! Not quite sure what we are going to do with it since we still have quite a freezer full of deer meat, but I'm sure he'll figure it out. So, if anyone is in the market for some good ole fashion turkey legs (or deer meat!) give us (ok, maybe me) a call. Oh someone please tell me there's nothing to "mount" when you bring home a turkey.

Well, baseball season has started again and Tate's team (i.e. The Rockhounds) has a new mascot. The STORM has moved into FMYSA's 7U division. Seems that the new mascot and uniform colors are a hit by many, especially the moms. Although black may get a little warm for the kiddos in the Texas heat, it sure is much easier to put through the laundry.

Here's a little glimpse of Tate hitting. In this particular game, the Storm came from behind and won by one run in the last inning. What an exciting game!

As Tate works his way through first grade year, school projects have been abundant. I'm not sure I remember working this hard in first grade. Is it my memory (no comments - please!) or was life just easier?

I can safely say that there are no longer leprechauns in our area. Tate and Erik built a fabulous trap that included danger signs, a glitter pathway, and a pot of gold at the end of the trail that, of course, captured the leprechaun. Here's to the teamwork in our household....

Busy, Busy Tooth Fairy

The tooth fairy has been very active around our house lately. Tate has now lost two bottom teeth and one on the top. The tooth fairy has been very generous but at times not very timely in showing up to our house. We are assuming that there are just times in which she couldn't find Tate's teeth under his pillow. :>)

End of the Year for Basketball

Tate loved playing basketball this year - Go Mavericks! It was a first for him but he took to the game very quickly. He was dubbed by Coach Jason as his assistant coach on/off the court. I'm not sure if that is truly a compliment (or a coach annoyed that Tate was telling people what to do) but, as any mom would do, I took that as the highest praise about my son. :>) Thanks to Coach Jason (and his extreme patience) the boys learned a lot and had a successful couple of seasons. Peyton's Christmas Present

Popi and Kiki went to Hawaii for Christmas so we were a little late exchanging gifts. Amongst all of P's presents was this very cute little duck that sang 'You are my sunshine'. Peyton thought this was the greatest thing ever as did all the rest of the Berry's that weren't going to have to take the duck home. Here's a clip of the entire family "acting a fool" and singing along. I'm so glad I was in charge of the video.

P.S. The duck is now residing at Ms. Blanca's house for children of all ages to enjoy.

Tate Turns 7 at Polar Ice.

This year we celebrated Tate's 7th birthday with a party at the ice skating rink - Polar Ice. He and his friends and family enjoyed pizza, cake and some "chilly" time on the ice. We were very proud of Tate's decision to collect food for a mission organization, CCA, instead of receiving gifts from his friends. It was a decision that we discussed quite frequently but that he stuck to until the bitter end.

We had a wonderful Christmas celebration that included visits from family and many opportunities to open presents. We started with a small celebration that included just the four of us with plenty of time spent enjoying games on the new Wii (Tate's gift) and some great food produced out of our "upstairs" kitchen (Peyton's gift). Nannie and PawPaw arrived along with aunts, uncles and cousins from both sides of the family. Steve, Tammy, Kody and Jared (Keiser) won the award for furthest distance traveled. Thanks guys for making the drive! We were so blessed to have everyone together this holiday season. There was one exception...Popi and Kiki were on the beautiful beaches in Hawaii. Popi/Kiki we missed you guys!

Big Bass Berry

Not only did Erik take a deer (although some of us thought that he was headed out to bring back an elk) hunting trip to Colorado this fall but a trip to the lake for some fishing with a friend was part of the season. He was extremely gracious in the souvenir giving department. From trip #1 the "gift" is in our freezer and trip #2 produced this fabulous picture. What a great hunter and fisherman we have in our family!

This year we headed to Iowa to spend Thanksgiving with the entire Keiser family (ok...my immediate Keiser family). We contemplated driving the 13 hours but when flight prices started going down we sought out the opportunity to fly. We knew that flying was much quicker than driving and were betting on good behavior out of our children. Tate was plugged into his portable tv or DS the entire time and we just brought along a "bag of tricks" in anticipation that we would be entertaining P the entire flight. As you can see in one of these pictures, we got a few minutes rest on the way home. Let me stress...few!

Tate decided he wanted to play basketball with some of his buddies from

school. So one of our baseball coaches (thank you Coach Jason) decided to take on the challenge. Let me give you some "food for thought" - none of these 6 year olds have ever played! Last night was our first game and, oh boy, was it an experience AND hilarious. The Mavericks (in red jerseys) fought a good fight but were defeated 20 -1. The highlight of the game (for us) was when Tate scored the 1 point at the free throw line. I was proud of all the boys though...they really hussled and seemed to enjoy themselves. And that enjoyment is all that really matters - right?

This year Halloween was a little less exciting than usual around our house since Erik (the head Halloween decorator) was on a big hunt. Yes, we have way too much deer meat in our freezer if anyone would like to join for dinner (please - i'm not a big fan!).

The Berry's are HUGE Texas Longhorn fans (Popi is an alumni) so the kids have no choice than to support the team as well. As yesterday was the big Texas vs. OU rivalry game (Congrats to the Longhorns on their big win!) Landon and Peyton were all decked out. Check out P cutting her eyes at her cousin Landon.

And yes, they do have token Baylor Bear attire that we bust out at some strategic moments. Lets just say that during football season it's a bit challenging to be a BU fan.

Rockhounds Score Big!

Tate's baseball team - the Rockhounds - played Saturday and beat the Athletics (yes, by a considerable amount but "who" was keeping score). The last two innings of the game Tate was playing his favorite position catcher and did incredibly well - even if I am his mom. He was actually catching the majority of the balls and was just waiting in anticipation for that short hopper that he could run after, throw his mask off (you know..the mask that weighs as much as him) and field. People in the stands were even commenting on how well he was doing. Let me say it again - he was catching and/or scooping the balls out of the dirt. As a result he was the Player of the Game and recieved a baseball bracelet and the game ball. He was so proud (as were we - of course!).

As Peyton heads towards her 2nd birthday, we thought that it would be a good time to find a little activity for her. As if we didn't have enough going on in our family... So, as a byproduct of being glued to the 2008 Olympics Tate, Erik and I decided to enroll her in gymnastics. Here's the first of many pics portraying her training.

For those of you who know her well, you won't be surprised to find out that she stayed glued to mommy for a portion of the first session. As we've now been back a couple of times we're all very proud - no, they didn't kick her out. She really is getting to be a big girl and do things on her own. She loves the "ta da".

Tate's Vacation to Iowa

Yes, Tate headed with my (Angela's) parents to Iowa this summer to visit his cousins Kody and Jared. Ok...he was also going to see my brother and sister-in-law too but we all know why his bags were packed days before the trip (he has a bit of his Nannie in him).

When they all arrived in Iowa they headed to the baseball state championship tournament for both Kody and Jared's teams. Yes, the entire family loves baseball! Jared's team won the championship game in his division while Kody's team placed second. Needless to say the entire Keiser clan (and one Tater Bug) were thrilled. And...Jared's coach named Tate the #1 fan coming all the way from Texas. Check out the trophy in the pics and imagine my parents getting Tate through security holding that fine piece of "art" that is now proudly displayed in his room - still to this day.

Spring Break in Park Cities, Utah

We (along with our friends the MacKenna's) headed to Park Cities, Utah for our first family ski trip (Sister stayed with her Nannie and PawPaw and the P. Berry family). This was a first for Tate (and his friend Jackson) and the boys did phenomenal. They were truly amazing. After two days in ski school they were moving down blue slopes with ease.

On one of our many trips up the ski lift, Tate looked at me and said "Mom, if you just get me a helmet I'd be able to go down the black slopes." As any mom would do, I quickly responded by telling him that he would "for sure" be getting a helmet when we got to the ski shop but would not be heading down any blacks on this trip. He then moved on to just "tree bashing" and jumping off of 8 foot high clifs. Maybe the black slopes would have been the better option....
